The Krishna Trust (Regd) is a Non-Governmental Organisation started in the year 1992. It’s main objective is to work for the welfare of the Mentally Challenged Children. The Krishna Trust (R) runs the “Krishna Chaitanya Residential Special School for the Mentally Challenged Children. This School was founded by the Ex-Major and renowned Paediatrician Dr. J.T. Venkateshaiah who in the formative years of the Trust conducted several medical camps in Halebyrohally Village of Kengeri Hobli in Bangalore South Taluk. The School was started in Halebyrohally Village in June 1994. Presently the Trust is headed by Sri. M. Sadashivappa, a leading Tax Consultant of Bangalore.
The Krishna Chaitanya Residential Special School for Mentally Challenged Children had a very humble beginning in a rented building at Halebyrohally, Near Kengeri Hobli, Bangalore South Taluk, Bangalore and has been developed to accommodate about 50 Mentally Challenged Children with pucca buildings of about 1500 sft, in a spacious campus of one acre owned by the Trust.
So far the Institute catered to the needs of about 100 families having children with various degrees of Mental Retardation. The child who come to the school is identified by the Specialized Staff of Krishna Trust (R), will get admission irrespective of caste, religion, creed etc. They are imparted special education, speech therapy, and physiotherapy, besides vocational training to eligible students.
Despite the paucity of funds at the disposal of the organization, it has compromised in making available the services of well-qualified personnel. At present the institute has strength of 18 staff members such as qualified special educators, besides qualified speech therapist, physiotherapist, pediatrician, social worker and occupational therapist and other supporting staff for the maintenance of hostel and the school. In addition to the above a panel of doctors are visiting the institute for conducting regular medical checkups for these children.
The sole aim of Krishna Trust (R) is to dedicate itself for the welfare of the persons with Mental Retardation, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and associated Multiple disabilities by scientifically training them to be self reliant and socially productive.

To organize welfare camps for the survey and identification of the Mentally Challenged Children and to render suitable advise regarding Educational/ Training Programmed suitable to the child depending on the category of the handicap.
To establish, maintain and develop educational institutions for the Mentally Challenged Children and to establish such institutions with residential facility.
To establish, maintain and develop the training cum production and rehabilitation units for the training and rehabilitation of the Mentally Challenged Children.
To formulate such schemes of trust to avail and implement the Grant-in-Aid schemes sponsored by the Govt. Social Welfare advisory board, child development corporations, National & International funding agencies and financial institutions assisting activities of Mentally Challenged Children.
To start, maintain associations organization institutions or committees to achieve the objects of Krishna Trust, for Welfare of Mentally Challenged Children
To establish, promote, manage, publication of books on mentally handicapped and activities of the organizations meant for welfare & rehabilitation of Mentally Challenged Children.
To establish consultancy agencies in the field of social work, mental retardation.
